...lots of them:)
Our carrot bed is full and the weather is miserable, so I decided to heat up the kitchen canning some carrots...ugh.
I picked not quite half the bed and filled the wheelbarrow...
...and after cleaning and discarding the tops, we had 25lbs. worth...nice!

What the heck?!
Dang. Looks like you're trying to take Kern County's crown as the carrot king.
And the funny thing is, until about 3 years ago we were complete FAILURES when it came to carrots. Snails, chickens, weather...something always wiped out our crop. But we've definitely been doing something right the last couple of years. In fact, we now get 2 crops a year; I'll be planting again next month...yay!
You must have good loose deep soil to get such great looking carrots. Even little six inch carrots come out terrible in our garden. If you plant a carrot crop in September then I'll try it at our house too. Thanks for the suggestion.
Could you please teach my CSA your secrets? Their carrots suck!
Do you ever pickle them?
Those carrots looked wonderful. I know they are a vegetable that children often plant with radishes as a first attempt into gardening, but I have never had good luck growing them. You must have done something they liked!
